Saving your assessment progress
Learn how autosave works and how to resume if you get interrupted.
Automatic saves every few answers
Your responses save in the background after each section so you can pick back up without losing completed questions. This happens seamlessly without any action required on your part—you'll see a brief indicator confirming that your progress has been saved.
The autosave feature works continuously throughout your assessment experience. Whether you're answering questions methodically or quickly moving through sections, the system captures and stores your responses in real-time. This means you're protected against unexpected interruptions like browser crashes, power outages, or accidental tab closures.
You don't need to click any save button or worry about manually preserving your work. The system is designed to be invisible yet reliable, giving you confidence to focus entirely on answering questions authentically rather than worrying about technical concerns.
Returning on the same device
Open the assessment link again and we will restore your progress automatically. You can continue from the next unanswered question. The system recognizes your session through secure browser storage, so returning to where you left off is completely seamless.
If you close your browser and return hours or even days later, your progress remains intact. Simply navigate back to the assessment page and you'll see exactly where you stopped, with all your previous answers preserved. The interface will even scroll you to the next question that needs your response.
For users who aren't logged in, progress is tied to your browser session. This means you should use the same browser and device to resume. If you need to switch devices or want to ensure your progress is accessible from anywhere, we recommend creating an account before starting or during the assessment.
Switching devices or clearing cookies
Sign in to your account first, then launch the assessment from the dashboard to reload your saved state. If you run into issues, use the Help link to contact support with your session ID.
When you're logged in to an account, your assessment progress is stored securely on our servers rather than just in your browser. This means you can start on your laptop, continue on your phone during a commute, and finish on your tablet at home—your progress follows you everywhere.
If you've cleared your browser cookies or cache, don't panic. As long as you're logged in, your data is safe and retrievable. Simply sign in again and navigate to the assessment section to resume where you left off.
For guests who began the assessment without creating an account, progress is stored in browser local storage. If you clear your browser data or need to switch devices, you'll want to either complete the assessment before doing so or quickly create an account to preserve your progress. Account creation takes less than 30 seconds and ensures your data is never lost.
Troubleshooting common scenarios
If you're having trouble resuming your assessment, first verify that you're using the same browser where you started (for guest users) or that you're signed in to the correct account (for registered users). Check that JavaScript is enabled in your browser, as it's required for the progress saving functionality.
Sometimes browser privacy settings or extensions that block cookies can interfere with progress saving. If you've made privacy adjustments recently, you may need to whitelist our domain to allow the assessment to function properly.
If your progress seems to have disappeared despite following the steps above, don't retake the assessment immediately. Contact our support team with your session ID (found in the URL or on the assessment page), and we can often recover your progress from our server logs.
Best practices for a smooth experience
For the most reliable experience, we recommend completing the assessment in one sitting when possible. If you know you'll need to pause, create an account before starting so your progress is securely synced to the cloud rather than stored only in your browser.
Keep your assessment tab open if you need to briefly step away for just a few minutes. Closing the tab is fine for longer breaks, but keeping it open ensures zero risk of any technical hiccup. When you return, you'll pick up instantly without needing to reload anything.
If you're working in an environment where browser sessions are automatically cleared (like a library or shared computer), definitely create an account first or plan to complete the entire assessment before logging out.
